📰 The Day I Felt Like a Real Reporter

I never thought holding a mic could feel so powerful — or so terrifying.

It was during our journalism internship when we were asked to create a short video on “Jammu Tawi – Protecting Our Lifeline.” I had studied journalism in the classroom, but now, I was standing on the riverside, notebook in hand, camera rolling, and people waiting for my questions. At first, I hesitated. What if I fumbled? What if someone refused to talk? But the moment I asked my first question to a local resident — and they answered with trust in their eyes — something changed. I wasn’t just a student anymore. I was a messenger, giving people a voice. We shot videos, took interviews, and shared real concerns of the community. For the first time, I wasn’t just learning journalism — I was doing journalism. That was the day I felt like a real reporter. And I’ll never forget it.
